Meet up safely

Rules of thumb for every Partr.ca trade — read before you go.

Golden rule

Always meet in known, well-lit, public places. Do not invite strangers into your home and don't go into theirs. If someone pushes back on meeting in public — walk away.

Good spots to meet

Police station exchange zones

Most Canadian police services host Safe Exchange Zones with cameras 24/7. See zerko.ca/safe-exchange-zones for a directory.

Malls & shopping centres

Food courts and mall entrances are busy, monitored, and easy to find.

Tim Hortons, Starbucks, cafés

Any staffed business where you won't be alone works — grab a coffee while you test the part.

Bring a friend

Two people is always safer than one, especially for higher-value items like GPUs.

Before you accept an offer

  • Keep all conversation inside Partr.ca messages. If they push you to WhatsApp, Telegram, or email — that's a red flag.
  • Confirm price, condition, and what's included in writing before you agree.
  • No e-Transfers, no gift cards, no crypto for a part you haven't inspected in person. Cash on pickup.

At the meetup

  • Inspect serial numbers, look for physical damage, and match photos to the listing.
  • For GPUs, CPUs, PSUs — ask to test in a portable rig if the seller has one, or agree on a short return window in writing.
  • Trust your gut. If something feels off, leave. There will always be another listing.
